Under the Water Act, it is an offence for a person to cause or permit the discharge of trade waste to the sewerage system without a Trade Waste Agreement. All businesses that have a wash down area are required to apply for approval to discharge trade waste to sewer, the waste water must comply with the relevant water authority before commencement of operations. It is important that business adhere to all requirements and authorities to ensure compliance and avoid possible costly fines and business shutdowns.
